Some of those nests are strange looking. :)
The stranger they are the more alluring they are. Those birds know how to get a girls attention. The big sandy pile of the mallee bird is so Aussie Bogan," take it or leave it love".
Nope,this is not a nest. The male builds it to show off his artistic skills. The females build ordinary nests elsewhere and tend their brood without his help.
