I have never let the location services run on my phone, so I at least get the appearance that Google doesn't have the list of where I've been. Who knows, maybe that's actually true.
I just checked my info and found no location history for the times I've had my phone's location service turned off. Does anyone know whether there's another, hidden location-data-collection feature on our phones?
They use known WiFi hotspots too. Their map cars collect data on Wifi hotspots which they can use to help narrow your location. Is this information transmitted to them for this purpose too? I don't know.
