Saudi women do not need to wear black abaya: crown prince
Riyadh: Women in Saudi Arabia need not wear head cover or the black abaya - the loose-fitting, full-length robes - as long as their attire is 'decent and respectful', the kingdom's crown prince said. With the ascent to power of young prince Mohammad bin Salman, the kingdom has seen an expansion in women's rights including a decision to allow women to attend mixed public sporting events and the right to drive cars from this summer.

I have to give this guy credit for trying to change his society for the better. Every religion has zealots and I'm sure this young Turk is like fingernails on a chalkboard to many.
What universe have we walked into? He better be careful because those scholars are going t throw a massive fit over these changes.
Saudi liberalization stories like this are generally P.R. hokum, with the part about it being at the whim and discretion of males or royals in any particular instance left unsaid.
I already knew that but they have to balance their power in society or they'll start getting push-back from the conservatives they've created.
