Defining a generation: The audio cassette turns 50 today
The audio cassette is now officially “over the hill” as it was 50 years ago today when the format launched at Philips' headquarters in Amsterdam. Originally designed to replace reel-to-reel tape for dictation, the audio cassette ultimately became a household staple for those that grew up in the 80s.

I still have some blank cassettes.
I think I still have some blank VHS tapes, but not audio tapes. I remember as a kid sitting around the radio and waiting for the right song to come on so I can make my own mix tapes. We've come along quite a lot since then.
I could safely say that I spent half my childhood enjoying this technology, and somewhat miss the retro feel of them.
And the double side recordings lol.
