If Katie Beaird were to sum up in one word how it’s felt as a student in the buildup to the statewide teacher walkout, that would be it, she said. “It’s difficult to want so much to support our educators in this cause, but at the same time feel as though we can do nothing,” said Beaird, an Owasso senior and member of the state Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council. That doesn’t mean, though, that students can’t make a difference in the final outcome, she added.
