Pound Stabilizes in 1.37s After Huge Post-Brexit Fall
The pound pulled-back modestly, reaching 1.3794 on Friday morning, after plunging to 35-year lows in the 1.32s overnight, as it became clear the ‘Leave’ campaign had won the UK referendum. The currency had tipped 1.50 in the early evening after a respected YouGov ‘on-the-day’ poll showed ‘Remain’ would win with a 52% share of the EU referendum vote versus 48% for ‘Leave’. A similar YouGov ‘on-the-day’ poll for the Scottish referendum was accurate in predicting the final result.
