Japan urged to ban manga child abuse images
Japan must ban sexually abusive images of children in manga comics, despite claims that such a move would threaten freedom of expression, the UN’s special envoy on child protection has said. Maud de Boer-Buquicchio praised Japan for passing a law last year that banned the possession of abusive images of children, but said it contained loopholes that allowed exploitation to continue.

I wish people could keep their fucked up reality out of others' fantasies. These aren't child abuse manga, this isn't child porn, they're drawings and stories. They aren't real, they never will be, and no one even wants them to be.
I tend to agree with you. I'm sure not all people who read those types of manga are pedophiles, and while I honestly haven't researched the subject, it seems to me that I'd much rather people who are afflicted with pedophilia get their jollies from reading manga (as opposed to child pornography or child abuse). As you mentioned, no children were harmed in the making of comics or stories. This type of content is surely disturbing, but I think banning something just on that is a dangerous road to start walking down.
