Is this any less obvious or any more newsworthy than saying that natural disasters are good for the generator business?
There is renewed demand for guns after crises because of politicians taking advantage of immediate heightened public fear
and paranoia to promote gun control measures that would ban the most popular guns ("assault weapons") in the country.
Also people are encouraged to purchase guns for their own protection. If I were to guess, that generates more of a demand than fear of political nonsense.
