Frank Gifford Dead: 'Monday Night Football' Sportscaster Was 84
The former New York Giants star, the husband of Kathie Lee Gifford, did play-by-play on the ABC games from 1971 until 1998. He teamed most famously with Howard Cosell and 'Dandy' Don Meredith. Frank Gifford, a dashing halfback and flanker with the NFL’s New York Giants who parlayed his stint in the Big Apple limelight into a successful Monday Night Football broadcasting career, has died. He was 84.
