Former head of airport, bridge agency and mentor to Chris Christie pleads guilty
One of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s closest confidants and the former chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has pleaded guilty to a felony count, according to the Associated Press. David Samson, who resigned from his Port Authority post amid fallout from the Bridgegate affair, has been under investigation for more than two years involving a flight unofficially dubbed the “Chairman’s Flight” that he allegedly requested United Airlines to reinstate from Newark to Columbia, S.C. The route was convenient to his vacation home.
