    The organization may be able to recoup a fraction of the dollars invested in these moves. The final paragraph of the article highlights what could potentially be the most damaging aspect of this, dare I say, debacle initiated by Mr Preller:

    And all of this doesn't include the long-term impact of scaring away future free agents who are looking to settle in one place for several years. The players and agents will see what is happening to Shields and others and will at the very least they will hesitate.

    Yes, the anticipation of it all was exciting for the first few weeks. But in the end, it has to translate into results. I appreciate an organization that is willing so spend money to put a winning product on the field, but it has to be done in a measured and intelligent way.
