You know you live in a poor country when as citizens you are compelled to force your own government into lowering the starting age from 14 to 12, 10 if self employed.
From the article: "The senator stressed that required factors included a voluntary decision from the child to work, consent from the parent or guardian and permission from the public ombudsman."
Hopefully this measure is the first step on the path out of extreme poverty for Bolivia, and onward to an economy strong enough that the need for child labour abates entirely.
