According to a survey conducted by news channel in Rajasthan, Rajasthani dances were used in the past to entertain kings and each of these varieties was performed by different tribes.

The folk songs on which these dances are performed are related to heroic deeds and love stories. Besides these songs, the other Rajasthani songs come under devotional songs and are classified as bhajans and banis.

1. Kucchi Ghodi Dance - Rajasthan news channel has many a times shown this dance form where the dancers wear costumes resembling riding horse. The dancers perform this dance form wearing life size horse puppet. This dance form is a delight to visual senses and is usually performed at the time of major celebrations of festivals or special cultural events in Rajasthan. This dance is performed in groups by a number of dancers who dance in rows and usually hold sword or gun in their hands.

2. Ghoomar - This traditional folk dance was developed by the Bhil Tribe and was later adopted by other Rajasthani communities as well. While the women create amusing rhythm with the manjeeras, their male counterparts play the tandoora.

Sometimes the dancers even hold a sword between their teeth to add special effect to their performance.

4. Fire Dance:

This dance is performed by Jasnathi sampraday of Bikaner and Churu districts. The tempo of the music on which the dance is performed goes on increasing and in the end the dancer performs on brightly glowing embers.

This dance form is performed in a big ground where wood and charcoal are piled and the men who have to perform the dance jump on the fire following the drum beats.
