Already huge in America the Elf on the Shelf started as a story book about an elf sent by santa to check children were being good !

The Elf on the Shelf is now sweeping the UK with thousands of parents buying and elf on the shelf along with the books and a range of Elf on the Shelf outfits including a dapper tuxedo and a north pole parka!

The Elf on the Shelf now comes as a boy version and a girl version and also with toddlers story books and toys, even a pet reindeer!

The Elf on the Shelf is the big brother of elves who moves around the house once the kids are in bed supposedly watching over them to make sure they are never naughty!

If children are good a small gift is left next to the Elf from Father Christmas. According to the original story any children who touch the Elf will make him disappear forever!
