As a FF fan, I don't think I've ever played this game. Going back through 7 and 8 right now . . . Maybe 9 will be next!
It's really great. I'm going to write an analysis post in a few days, but it feels like a culmination of the 8 games that came before it. A sort of "last hurrah" to the Pre-FFX era of Final Fantasy.

So I'm going to go against the grain on this one. I've always been a huge FF fan, but 9 was just terrible for me. I started with FF6, loved 7 and 8 (yes even 8). But 9 lost me. I didn't like the characters, and the story didn't do it for me.
That being said, absolutely play it and hopefully you enjoy it.
I've actually downloaded my copy to my phone earlier this morning and will start playing during lunch break today.
Do eet. I loved it! I got this game for Christmas when I was 10. Last FF that I truly loved, outside XI and revamped XIV.
I really really really wanna play XIV, but I'm not sure if it's worth the subscription price...would you say that it is?
FF14 probably has the most content per price. I clocked 1.8k hours on it but stopped recently, but I can't say anything but good things about ARR. Play the free trial first, though
Definitely play 9, I honestly enjoyed it more than 7 or any other PlayStation era Final Fantasy. The characters are fantastic and the gameplay reminded me of the SNES Final Fantasy games. Even though it doesn't get as much recognition as others 9 remains my second favorite in the series behind 6.
Will do. The first real RPG that I ever played through was FF7 so the bar was set pretty high for me after that. So to say that it was better than 7 is a big statement. ;)
Well that's just my opinion lol, many would disagree I'm sure. I would also check out 6 if you haven't played it. It's generally regarded as the best pre psx Final Fantasy and its my personal favorite.
Every has a "best Final Fantasy" opinion lol. I've played FF4 many times but never got around to finishing it, still prefer the original to the remastered version. I haven't started 6 though.

Holy crap I haven't heard this soundtrack since... 2010 maybe was the last time I played it?
I absolutely loved the theme and environment in this game. I wish I hadn't gotten stuck at a point in it from not leveling up all my party and then suffering from some memory card corruption issues. This and FF7 ended up taking up a solid place in my heart when I was younger. As a side note, Vivi was easily my favorite character in that game. The art style really spoke levels just through that character alone, I felt.
Definitely one of the better games in the series, even if it doesn't get the same level of recognition as others in the series.
