Men who wish to become fathers tend to be perceived as more desirable by women, study finds
According to a new study published in Evolutionary Psychological Science, men who wish to become fathers, or have prior relationship experience, are deemed more desirable as long-term mates. Female choosiness is a consequence of the high metabolic costs associated with producing female gametes (i.e., ova/eggs). In contrast, men are less limited in their ability to produce sex cells; instead, men’s reproductive success is limited by their ability to “attract mates and fertilize eggs.”
