For nearly a decade the company has been making something it calls “The Offer” to new hires—an opportunity to take a $2,000 stipend instead of starting the job. I too understand that the experiment is not yet finished or failed. Just people used to have always a supervisor or a boss on the one hand don't know how to deal with it and people who have used to be supervisors or bosses on the other hand don't want to deal with it.
