Qantas considers removing life rafts to save fuel
Qantas has not made a final decision on a plan to remove life rafts from some flights but insists no action will be taken that might compromise the safety of passengers. The airline is considering removing life rafts from Boeing 737s on some routes that do not take aircraft more than 400 nautical miles off the coast. The move would save about $1 million a year in fuel.
