Mozilla just built an ad blocker into Firefox
Mozilla takes the job of protecting your privacy very seriously. Sometimes, it seems, the job requires causing a little collateral damage — like killing web-based ads. A brand new Developer version of Firefox has been released, and it includes our first real look at Mozilla’s enhanced tracking protection features. So far, it looks like a major change from the woefully ineffective Do Not Track.

Good to see them doing this. If there is nothing going on behind the scenes then I applaud Mozilla.
If ads were less offensive, less intrusive and less annoying, I think a lot of people wouldn't mind seeing them. What happens when you turn off the adblocker is that your computer overheats from the multimedia ads, sounds suddenly come out of nowhere and the newspaper pages look like ads with a little news at the bottom. Until someone decides to fix this, I am keeping my adblocker on. In addition, I have blocked flash, so video sites better use HTML5.
