As good as it gets: has the smartphone peaked?
In his keynote address at the Macworld Conference & Expo in January of 2007, Steve Jobs introduced the world to the first-generation iPhone. Before he held out the device as if it were some sort of beacon of light, he famously stated, “Today, Apple is going to reinvent the phone.” How right he was.

Despite the clickbait title, it's a decent article. I agree that until we have something drastically different, such as an implant, HUD, or something else we haven't thought of yet, what we think of as a phone will be a slate/tablet with 'buttons' for apps. Processors will get faster, batteries will get better, etc, but the design of the phone won't really change until it transforms.
