New Zealand awards Amazon extra $116 mln subsidy for 'Lord of the Rings' TV series
New Zealand said on Friday it has agreed to give Amazon (AMZN.O) extra rebates on its expenses for the filming of "The Lord of the Rings" TV series in the country, hoping to reap multi-year economic and tourism benefits.

International tourism, sure, until the next pandemic comes by. And seriously? Giving grants to a company that accumulates more wealth than the GDP's of several countries combined? Even Bezos could pay that from his pocketchange. But then again, my logic is that of someone who sees taxmoney as a means to make a country run/work/function with things like awesome infrastructure, free schools, free healthcare and clean energy.
