I sincerely doubt MJ could reduce cramps,but less birth pains.
Research is showing the endocannabinoid system is deeply involved with pain signaling. The use of cannabis to mimic the body's endocannabinoids and exploit that system is no sham way to get high. It is, and has been for some long time, medicine.

Sure, and next up to end is probably your job, driving priveledges, etc... I don't see a point where driving or working under the influence going to be tolerated even in the medical marijuana field.
