The state of Georgia passed one of these about a year ago and most people still don't realize it and are getting fined a lot so far this summer. The law in Georgia even says that if the person behind you is speeding faster than you are speeding that you must get out of their way. Supposedly this will keep instances of road rage and accidents from happening because a person believes they shouldn't have to get out of the way of people speeding.
Waiting on Ohio to pass a similar law.
Shit would hit the fan if this passed here in California.
The funny thing is that having recently driven in the bay area, people seem to be (in my ~400mis experience) more reasonable about driving in general than mid eastern drivers.
I'm mainly talking about freeways. Its not like other states. Any sort of structure sort of breaks down.
I think technically PA has this already, it's a violation to fail to pass in the passing lane, and conversely a violation to pass on the right. I've not seen or heard of either enforced.
Lane camping is a huge problem on our more congested highways, often due to people fiddling on cell phones(also illegal) on the way to or from work.
I'm from Michigan, I guess I just took it for granted that using the left lane for what it was intended for was actually a law. I've yelled at my friends who were just cruising in the left lane getting passed on the right. It's dangerous and frustrating when someone does that.
We had a 6 month trial where trucks had to keep left (right in the US). It never came back in. Oh those days were glorious with roads clear and free of congestion.
You can make billions here in New York City with this.
