Typhoon Haiyan Survivors Band Together in Manila Halfway House
Typhoon Haiyan left more than three million people homeless in the Philippines. For 185 refugees from the storm, their new home is a halfway house in the Mandaluyong area of metropolitan Manila, where they rely day-to-day on relief supplies, hope—however meager or misplaced—and the small connections they can forge with others who have been upended by the storm. This story was reported from there over the course of eight days in late November and early December.
