Actually that's a good point. Sometimes it's also just a good way to let people know you read/watched what they posted and found it interesting, even if it doesn't necessarily illicit discussion.

Yeah, it's definitely not the best solution. I really hope it doesn't pollute this place to become like other websites - it's really nice to be able to post your opinion even though it may be controversial.

We could also just eject them out of the airlock..

Really really great stuff!

The best thing I've ever done was meetup with a random internet stranger in their hometown. I was traveling to Copenhagen, Denmark for a week while living in France, and made a random post on a community website that I was looking for things to do. A local ended up private messaging me, so we decided to meet up and hang out for the day. He brought a couple of friends and gave me the insider's tour of the places, food, sights, etc. We are still friends to this day, and it has remained one of my favorite experiences of all time.

Really just try and connect with a local there, because they know the area like no other!

So I could really care less about the whole administrative side of things that took place there.

What got to me - what I found to be the dumbest thing ever, was the response of the community. Like seriously? Shutting down all of the sub-reddits because someone you like was fired? After a long day at work, I really don't want to read opinion hour on how administrators are abusing people choosing to be there. I want to hang out somewhere with interesting articles, discussions, and people.

It feels fresh, and the community isn't too big or awful.

Most importantly, I'm hoping that this will be a good place to come that doesn't shut down for an entire day as a result of inner community problems.

But I think y'all got something positive here, and I'm really looking forward to ways I can contribute and help this community grow! It kind of feels like the Oklahoma Land Run or Lewis and Clarke's Expedition.

This whole idea is haunting in a really beautiful way. I think one of the best thing I've ever come across was a quote: "If I were to die, the responsibility of my best friend is to immediately delete my internet history" (Paraphrased and forgot who said it, but felt it was relevant)

I think it's kind of a tough problem to combat. Maybe make something like a thread or tribe specifically for those people that want to sit there and gain imaginary exp? Lol
