It is worth noting that in 2012 a similar thing was done by some researchers at the University of Washington on a different car. The car manufacturers have had three years and still not learned a thing.

This is the reason I won't buy a brand new car in the foreseeable future.
As an IT worker with some experience in security, the moment I saw cars that could park themselves was the moment I decided I wouldn't buy one unless the industry starts taking the issue seriously.
It's one thing to make a TV with gapping security holes. No one will die if your TV is compromised, but a Car ?
I have a 2014 Jeep. I checked the website for software updates and it says none are available. I have Uconnect, but I think my version might be a little too primitive, I don't have many bells and whistles.
