What is going on with Microsoft?

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella sent out an email to its employees clarifying the move to downsize the workforce. For those who could recall, would admit, Nadella's email was more sensitive compared to a similar memo by Ex-Nokia chief Stephen Elop's detailing the downsizing of 18,000 employees earlier in the companies timeline.
