I'm 31 now, went to school in the 80s and 90s.
We were raised, as part of the public education system in United States to believe that our government would never do this sort of thing, we aren't like that. We were taught in our history and government classes that only dictatorships and countries like China and North Korea did this sort of thing to their own citizens...
I don't think there is any turning back now, going to be up to the citizens and user base to figure out how to privatize their online/mobile activity (good luck with that!).
When privacy is outlawed, only outlaws will have privacy.
