As Iceland's Auroracoin “Airdrop” Approaches, What Does It Mean When A Nation Adopts A Cryptocurrency?
Iceland has its own Satoshi. A programmer called Baldur Friggjar Odinsson has created an alternative to bitcoin that he is calling AuroraCoin and in twenty-three days he will “airdrop” 31.8 coins to every citizen of Iceland – all 330,000 of them. It is, in short, a pretty ballsy move.

I've been getting sick of all these cryptocurrency stories all around the place, but this one is actually very interesting because the government is involved. I'd guess that in a bigger country it would be much harder to implement.
Yeah, 300k people is less than the city I live in. And it's not even that big.
I'd love to see this catch on as a local/regional currency and become successful.
