Magnum, P.I. was an action/drama television show that ran on CBS from 1980 - 1988. One of the most iconic shows of the decade, Magnum was the creation of Don Bellisario, and if that name sounds familiar it should, he's also the man behind "Quantum Leap", "Jag", and the current hit show "NCIS".

Following the adventures of private investigator Thomas Magnum, the show was a fan favorite because it built up such strong characters over the course of its run. Whether you liked them or you hated them, you felt something, and so you were invested in seeing what happened next. The show was less about the solving of crimes, and more about the characters themselves, who just happened to be solving crimes as they went through their day. That formula would become a part of nearly every Bellisario production since.
