Need For Speed is always-online, (Need for Speed network) social media ‘likes’ are currency
The most recent Need For Speed games have all been pretty heavy on the online functionality side of things, especially since the dawn of Autolog. This year’s Need For Speed is a purely online affair though, and it’s all down to your social media profile.

So basically if you don't use Facebook, or don't want to spam all your friends with LIKE THIS SO I CAN LEVEL UP, the game isn't for you? Duly noted.

I'm pretty sure EA or the developer will release another set of statements clarifying the matter.
That's a little better I suppose, and could actually be interesting based on how well they integrate it into the game. I'll wait and see and put away my "Jump to Conclusions" mat for now.
It's a bit of a sore spot for me, admittedly, as I just started using Spotify and found out that I'm not allowed to have anything but the default portrait unless I have a Facebook...
Yeah. The reason why I made my initial post here was to avoid a flame war.
For the Spotify matter, you could just create a dummy private Facebook for that. That;s what I did for many sites.
I actually tried the "dummy facebook" route, but to sign up they require me to either give them a phone number they can text or upload a picture of my driver's license. That's not going to happen, Facebook.
Huh strange. They changed the rules from when I signed up a few years back. Back then, you just needed an email address.
Running the risk that FaceCrook will doxx you and start autotagging people’s pictures with your assumed name?
