Former New Orleans mayor Ray Nagin , who portrayed himself as a straight-talking anti-politician determined to clean up the city’s notoriously corrupt culture, was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in prison for bribery, money laundering and other corruption during his two terms.

A corrupt politician in New Orleans? Who would have guessed?
It only took 9 years for justice to be served. But there will be appeals and time for good behavior and whatever, and in the end I'll be surprised if he spends more than 18 months. It really does pay to be a criminal in the US.
