  • The Pitchers' Duel

On a beautiful Monday night, the Blue Jays and Royals squared off in Rogers Centre.

This game proved to be a battle of the pitchers, between Edinson Volquez and Aaron Sanchez.

Early on in the match, the Jays took an early one run lead in the 1st inning with the help of Saunders' sacrifice ground ball to drive in Carrera.

The bats got very quiet very fast though, and it seemed like a duel of the century until the 7th inning came, where the Royals tied the game with a solo home-run thanks to Morales, but in the bottom of the 7th, the Jays blew the game wide open with the help of a walk which drived in a run, a 2 run single by Barney, and finally a Donaldson single which drived in another 2 runs.

The last pointless run came in the 9th by Hosmer who hit a solo homer to make it 6-2.

Aaron Sanchez pitched eight full innings of one run ball, and Volquez pitched into the seventh before being replaced by Hochevar with no outs.

Both teams meet again tomorrow at 7:07 pm, ET.
