If they attack american political elections, they're setting the US up for harsh internet control and censorship laws, one thing America can't stand for is meddling in elections, because if they can do it to an unloved candidate they or somebody like them can go after one you do like. Not to mention, attacking political elections like this is a sure way to get congress involved and they're going to want to pass strict internet bills, because the hackers!

I'm not so sure about that. I don't think this attack is any more threatening to the political establishment than some of Anonymous's previous targets (and there are plenty in the establishment who would welcome it). Also, the main thrust of their attack is going to be trying to dredge up dirt from his past and parade it around the internet, something which will most likely be perfectly legal. The only other thing they've mentioned is taking down his website (likely through a DDoS attack). This is something hackers have done for a long time, even to U.S. government websites(!), with little legal ramification, since it's not much more than a temporary annoyance to someone like Trump or the U.S. gov't.
