Graves and Monuments of the Civil War
Kirk Savage talked about the recovery, identification, and commemoration of those who died in the Civil War. An unprecedented number of American soldiers were killed in battle during the Civil War, and the conventional practices of body recovery, identification, and burial could not keep up with the growing number of soldiers. Professor Savage spoke about the practices adopted at the time to identify the fallen soldiers, and the types burials given to those who lost their lives in battle.
