From an outsider looking in it sure doesn't look like it, the EU is basically playing the USSR role here... you are free to make decisions the way we tell you. Granted again that is from an outsider looking in, this to me would be if Republicans took complete control with a super majority and demanded California change their ways because they are too liberal and wrong.
I'm not saying what is happening in Poland is good, I'm just saying it seems the Union is pressuring a member to do what they want and only what they want, thus are they really free and sovereign?
