My DIY Underlit LED (Hikaru) Skirt

While they are very neat (and Lady Ada is awesome), as you can see they are often not really something you can wear out- even to a rave or music festival etc. They are normally only used for short fashion shows or meetups and not really designed for wear. I wanted something a little less bizarre, more user friendly for the sort of girls who are already adding LEDs.

    Awesome seeing the process that goes into building something like that! Maybe I'll have to look into this stuff a bit, seems like a really interesting way to meld technology into clothing.

    Jumped out at me though:

    This shot was needed after my last project which no one believed I made. Because when they put your boobs in they suck out your brains. Everyones knows that's how it works:-) If it's still a problem I'll just have to wear a GoPro for the whole process LOL

    Sad to see such prejudices applied towards creators. :(

      At a local hardware hackers meetup. Got to demo the skirt and explain how it works. Some of the Western women were nice. Some not. Compared to China the female Maker scene in the West seems incredibly conservative and hostile to women who don't conform to the blue hair and tattoos, zero-risk-non-conformist look:-) Eccentric clothing and body-modification is ok- but only if it's the same kind they have. Because if we look sexy the evil men will never take us seriously LOL.
