Homeless phone-charging “thief” wanted security
How Portland police and local courts wasted time and money by pressing criminal charges over a petty theft of mere fractions of a penny when she charged her cell phone. Police charged a homeless woman with misdemeanor theft when she plugged her phone into an outdoor outlet in Old Town in downtown Portland. Her case was sent to Multnomah County Community Court.
