At the end of the day, in-jokes are great if and ONLY if you're part of the in-group making them. The main problem with memification (is that a word?) on the internet is that it's a lot harder to be part of the "in-group" unless said group is both relatively small (>150 people) and includes a fairly regular communication setup. Diluted amongst tens of thousands, memes turn into "small talk," where instead of actual inside jokes and jargon, they're just the way we know how to talk to strangers without having serious discussion.
There's a few groups I used to belong to on reddit- I left most of them due to time constraints over the last year - that have private Skype rooms and IRC chats, and while they're as circle-jerk-ish as the rest to an outsider, the vibe I wound up with at the time was that of a group of friends just hanging out. We've all done that in real life, where our clique has old stories and references and buzzwords that make no sense to anybody else. It's a form of bonding. But that doesn't seem to scale on Reddit.

For posts with links, there's an "analysis" list on the right side of the screen that breaks down the net upvotes by tribe. It's really handy for seeing not only who is viewing your material, but where it's fitting in.

Twenty-five percent growth in a week is pretty impressive. Nice job keeping the site running during all this fuss!

Redditfugee. It's a good term. Well done, and welcome to Snapzu!

To add to that, Snapzu's invite-only system should, in theory, limit the ability of spammers to exist here.

Most of the reason I joined Snapzu is the server quality. Voat doesn't do any favors to me if it stays down all the time.

There's a Dota group here, and that makes me FAR too happy.
1) The answer to that used to be support, but I've been struggling to stay effective in that role in this patch for some reason. 6.84 is very fond of gank-heavy lineups at my tier, and my best supports are all easy prey for the likes of Bounty Hunter and Spirit Breaker. As a result, I've been playing a lot of offlaners and junglers).
2) Right now, probably Nature's Prophet. I'm 13-7 with him in the last month, because if the enemy team lacks for highly mobile heroes like SB, Storm Spirit, or Spectre, he can split-push incredibly effectively and still return to participate in teamfights without trouble. Plus, he feeds incredibly fast and can itemize in a lot of fun ways.
3)I'm new as crap at Dota, having started only around December.
4)I only started playing ranked a month ago, and hover around 1800. I suck, but I calibrated at 1600, so I'm slowly improving.
5) The game in general is very prone to negativity, because it's easy to get emotionally invested in it. I tend to play in a lot of small increments (1-2 games per day), just because it helps avoid the worst of that. As for frustration, I mostly just don't like trying to herd cats, which is the big downside of solo queue- too many people who can't agree on what to do next.

The main downside to terraforming Earth is that it's currently our only viable home. If we do something stupid/wrong and break our atmosphere, that's game. If things go wrong on Mars, we get to go back to the drawing board and try again. So in a lot of ways, Mars could serve as sort of a "test case" for most terraforming options.

This sounds almost exactly like my thoughts. With a small handful of exceptions (looking at you, r/kerbalspaceprogram), subreddits where interesting content was a regular thing and bigotry wasn't were getting scarce. Add to that an almost guarantee that quality is going to drop further as the mods get tied up in web drama and spend less time moderating in the near future, and reddit doesn't sound like it will be as much fun in the next few months.

As another refuge, welcome to the party! Snapzu is shaping up to be considerably cooler than Reddit has been for a long time. I think you'll enjoy it.

Putting an RES feature behind a paywall is actually a great idea. It's a huge quality of life improvement that's worth the money, but not quite VITAL if you're tight on money.

So, as a new member here from reddit, you're trying to tell me that Snapzu can be reddit without the assholes? I like it!
