An unusual comparison,but I see the why of it.
As a lifelong Mets fan and Deadhead, I find it devastatingly apt. In fact, I've made this case to my friends on several occasions. Unfortunately, few here in Ohio have a sense of the pathos in the Mets' story, and there are no analogous teams in Ohio sports that I can think of.
