Austin-based architectural practice Bercy Chen Studio have designed the Edgeland House project. The contemporary property, which is hidden under a grass roof, can be found in Austin, Texas. It's located on a brownfield site and is a modern reinterpretation of one of the oldest housing typologies in North America, the Native American Pit House.

I'd totally live there. It's a hobbit hole with natural light!
I can't imagine something like this working in AK. The middle would fill up with snow. Or maybe it wouldn't. I want to build an earth-sheltered garage on my property and something like this (but garage doors instead of glass windows) could help with the ventilation issues.
