Just like the Western United States, it will start with a "Gold Rush" and will turn into permanent population.
Finally- Humanity is stepping into the real world. We cannot ignore the rewards space exploration provides our species. Sure it's costly and dangerous- but you know what's even more costly and dangerous? Having all our proverbial eggs in one Earth sized basket. If the species is to survive we must claim our birthright.
These startups are just the innovation to act as a springboard to that end. Hopefully they can help inspire a new (and longer lasting) space race.
