Why Do Guys Feel the Need to Nod at Other Guys in Public?
You’re walking down the street and make eye contact with a dude going the opposite way—what do you do? As a recent Reddit thread revealed, if you’re like a lot of guys, you probably do some kind of nod—a subtle, some say instinctive nonverbal greeting you may not even be aware you’re performing. It’s a small, platonic gesture jam-packed with semiotic meaning—a sign of mutual respect, of friendly recognition, of acknowledging another’s presence without being too pushy.
