M35 (NGC 2168)
Open cluster in Gemini

2800 light years distant and about 100 million years old. NGC 2158 is in the lower right hand corner. It looks like a close neighbor but it's actually 4 times more distant and 10 times older!

M35 was discovered in the 1740s by Philippe Loys de Chéseaux and again by John Bevis before being cataloged by Messier.
