M11 (Wild Duck Cluster, NGC 6705)
Open cluster in the constellation Scutum

M11 is about 6200 light years from earth, 220-250 million years old and is comprised of about 2,900 stars. It is known as the Wild Duck Cluster because when viewed through a small scope the brighter stars form a V shape, reminiscent of a flock of ducks.
