Every aspect of the private prison system needs to end, not just the facilities. The companies that provide services need to have their contracts ended as well. There are no examples that you can provide where it benefited a community to privatize services. Businesses have this insane requirement to be constantly growing and producing more profit year-over-year. The only way to do that when you have a fixed customer base is to continually buy cheaper products and to offer fewer and fewer services. Also the phone service providers. The systems needs to be completely overhauled and the profit motive, up-to-and-including sheriff's offices profiting from the jail, needs to end. People should not profit from jailing other people. The concept is just insane and sociopathic.

Now they need to go after that bullshit that is the telephone system, securus or whatever the hell it's called that is having visitation removed and replaced with $20 a minute skype calls and $5 a minute phone calls with minimum $50 funds on account.
