Should the US government force citizens to vote?
On Wednesday during a town hall meeting in Cleveland, Ohio President Barack Obama floated the idea of making voting in America compulsory. The deputy secretary of State for New Hampshire, the front-line state for presidential elections, doesn't endorse the concept. Mr. Obama suggested compulsory voting in the context of speaking about ways to counteract the role of money in politics.

I really think there needs to be an incentive for voting. People nowadays expect something for doing something even if it is for the greater good. Give them a tax break or a day off. This extra incentive should at least get half of the population voting, which is way better than the turnout recently.
What greater incentive could people have, it's called the dole.
A federal holiday (day off) would be huge for a lot of people, Especially the ones under the poverty line.
