College Is Wildly Exploitative: Why Aren't Students Raising Hell?
Four hundred faculty members at New York University, one of the nation’s most expensive schools, recently released a report on how their own place of employment, legally a nonprofit institution, has become a predatory business, hardly any different in ethical practice or economic procedure than a sleazy storefront payday loan operator. Its title succinctly summarizes the new intellectual discipline deans and regents have learned to master: "The Art of The Gouge."

Because you have no choice. If you want a living wage, college isn't optional. Even jobs that should not require anything more than high school are demanding college. Costco wants college grads to stock shelves. Starbucks wants college grads to brew coffee. The only places that don't require college of some sort pay so low you qualify for food stamps. So there's no way to leverage change. You can't not go to college which is the only leverage you have.
I could buy a house with my student loan debt. I see so many people around me who graduate with no debt thanks to parents. I am going to be paying for the next 20 years.
