Silicon Valley has become one of the most ageist places in America. Tech luminaries who otherwise pride themselves on their dedication to meritocracy don’t think twice about deriding the not-actually-old. “Young people are just smarter,” Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg told an audience at Stanford back in 2007.

As a 43 year old woman currently seeking employment, this article really hit home what I am facing out there in the job market. What a sad world we find ourselves living in where it's not wisdom, experience, knowledge, or know-how that matter but looks, youth, entitlement, and arrogance. At this precarious time in our history, we should be focusing on coming together for a better future for all of us, not trying to find even more silly reasons to divide and categorize us. Technology itself may be forward thinking and about advancement, unfortunately the humans behind it are still stuck in stone aged thinking.
