Pit bulls attack service dog in DeLeon Springs; 1 shot dead
Volusia County deputies and animal control officers say the owner of a service dog shot and killed one of three pit bulls that attacked his dog and bit two people Monday morning. The incident occurred at 10:18 a.m. at 6010 Logger Creek Road in DeLeon Springs where Esther Long, 67, reported that loose pit bulls bit her and her neighbor, said sheriff’s spokesman Andrew Gant. “No major injuries reported,” Gant said in an email. “One of the dogs was shot.”
